Your classic grilled cheese: a perfect ratio of crispy crust and gooey cheese, it's sure to bring back childhood memories.
Assemble each sandwich by placing the four slices of bread onto a board and evenly distributing the sliced and grated cheeses across them. Fold one slice over another to form the sandwiches.
Preheat the pan to 350°F/176°C (medium) and add some of the butter.
Place the sandwiches in the pan. Toast for 5 minutes on the first side.
Place the sandwiches back in the pan, toasted side face up and finish toasting for 5 more minutes. You may gently press the sandwiches while they cook.
Transfer the finished sandwiches to a cutting board. You can hold the grilled cheese in the oven at the lowest temperature to keep warm until ready to serve.
Slice the sandwiches in half and serve immediately.
