This French toast uses rich and airy brioche for unbeatable texture that contrasts with a crisp exterior for a delightfully simple brunch.
First whisk the eggs in a medium size bowl until smooth. Then whisk in the remaining custard ingredients until combined.
Preheat the pan to 365°F/185°C (medium). Add some of the butter and melt completely.
Quickly dip two pieces of the bread in the custard to lightly coat both sides, then place them in the pan. Cook the first side for 4 minutes.
Use a spatula to carefully flip both slices of toast. Cook for 4 minutes.
Transfer the cooked french toast from the pan to a tray or plate. You can hold the french toast in the oven set to its lowest temperature to keep warm. Before cooking another batch of french toast, wipe the pan and repeat the cooking process.
Serve with powdered sugar, butter and syrup or your favorite french toast topping.
